Gorilla (Nabonga)
(1944) In an effort to clear the name of his dead father, Ray Gorman (Buster Crabbe) travels to deepest, darkest Africa in an attempt to track down the money embezzled from his father's bank years before. After a long trek through the jungle Gorman finds the money in the care of a beautiful girl called Doreen (Julie London), daughter of the now long-dead embezzler. Gorman finds his goal difficult to accomplish because not only is Doreen, who is guarded by a huge, ferocious gorilla, loathe to give up the money, but greedy guide Carl Hurst (Barton MacLane) has followed Gorman's trail, intent on getting the money himself by any means necessary…

Ape
(1940) Dr Bernard Adrian (Boris Karloff) is a kindly, but slightly mad, scientist who seeks to cure a beautiful young woman of polio - the girl reminds the doctor of his late daughter. To find this cure, he needs human spinal fluid to complete the formula for his experimental serum. For this he dresses in an ape skin and chooses his victims based on social standing, his theory being that the health of this pretty girl is more valuable to society than the lives of the poor unfortunate victims. Despite the good intentions of the doctor, he becomes victimized himself by the townspeople as they are suspicious of his actions. By coincidence, a vicious circus ape has broken out of its cage, and is terrorising the town.
